jaya jaya dīnadayāḷā satyanārāyaṇa devā.
Victory, victory to You, kind to the lowly, O Satyanarayan Deva.
paṁcārati ovāḷū śrīpati tuja bhaktibhāvā.
O Shripati, with bhakti we wave the five-flamed aarti before You.
vidhiyukta pūjunī karitī purāṇa śravaṇa.
They offer puja as the rites prescribe, and listen to the Purana's katha;
parimaladravyāṁsahita puṣpamāḷā arpūna.
they offer garlands of flowers with fragrant things,
ghr̥tayuktaśarkarāmiśrita godhūmacūrṇa.
and wheat flour cooked with ghee and sugar —
prasāda bhakṣaṇa karitāṁ tūṁ tyāṁ prasanna nārāyaṇa.
as they eat that prasad, You, Narayan, are pleased with them.
jaya jaya dīnadayāḷā satyanārāyaṇa devā.
Victory, victory to You, kind to the lowly, O Satyanarayan Deva.
paṁcārati ovāḷū śrīpati tuja bhaktibhāvā.
O Shripati, with bhakti we wave the five-flamed aarti before You.
śatānaṁde vipreṁ pūrvī vrata heṁ ācarileṁ.
Long ago the Brahmin Shatanand kept this vrat;
daridra davaḍuni aṁtīṁ tyāteṁ mokṣapadā neleṁ.
You drove away his poverty, and at the end led him to moksha.
tyāpāsuni heṁ vrata yā kaliyugīṁ sakaḷāṁ śruta jhāleṁ.
From him this vrat became known to everyone in this Kali age;
bhāvārthe pūjitāṁ sarvāṁ icchita lādhaleṁ.
all who offer puja with a true heart have gained what they wished for.
jaya jaya dīnadayāḷā satyanārāyaṇa devā.
Victory, victory to You, kind to the lowly, O Satyanarayan Deva.
paṁcārati ovāḷū śrīpati tuja bhaktibhāvā.
O Shripati, with bhakti we wave the five-flamed aarti before You.
sādhuvaiśyeṁ saṁtatisāṭhīṁ tujalā prārthiyaleṁ.
Sadhu the merchant prayed to You for a child;
icchita puratāṁ madāṁdha hoūni vrata na ācarileṁ.
when his wish was granted he grew blind with pride and did not keep the vrat.
tyā pāpāneṁ saṁkaṭiṁ paḍunī duḥkhahi bhogīleṁ.
For that wrong he fell into trouble and suffered;
smr̥ti hoūni ācaritāṁ vrata tyā tuvāṁci uddharileṁ.
when he remembered and kept the vrat, it was You who lifted him out.
jaya jaya dīnadayāḷā satyanārāyaṇa devā.
Victory, victory to You, kind to the lowly, O Satyanarayan Deva.
paṁcārati ovāḷū śrīpati tuja bhaktibhāvā.
O Shripati, with bhakti we wave the five-flamed aarti before You.
prasāda visaruni patibheṭīlā kalāvatī gelī.
Forgetting the prasad, Kalavati hurried to meet her husband;
kṣobha tujhā hotāṁci tayācī naukā buḍālī.
the moment You were displeased, his boat sank.
aṁgadhvajarāyāsī yāpari duḥkhasthiti ālī.
In the same way sorrow came upon King Angadhwaj:
mr̥tavārtā śataputrāṁcī satvara karṇī parisīlī.
swiftly the news reached his ears that his hundred sons were dead.
jaya jaya dīnadayāḷā satyanārāyaṇa devā.
Victory, victory to You, kind to the lowly, O Satyanarayan Deva.
paṁcārati ovāḷū śrīpati tuja bhaktibhāvā.
O Shripati, with bhakti we wave the five-flamed aarti before You.
punarapi pūjuni prasāda grahaṇa karitāṁ tatkṣaṇīṁ.
When they offered puja again and took the prasad, at that very moment
paticī naukā taralī dekhe kalāvatī nayanīṁ.
Kalavati saw with her own eyes her husband's boat rise and float;
aṁgadhvajarāyāsī putra bheṭati yeūni.
King Angadhwaj's sons came back and met him.
aisā bhaktāṁ saṁkaṭiṁ pāvasī tūṁ cakrapāṇī.
So do You come to Your bhaktas in their trouble, O Chakrapani, who holds the discus.
jaya jaya dīnadayāḷā satyanārāyaṇa devā.
Victory, victory to You, kind to the lowly, O Satyanarayan Deva.
paṁcārati ovāḷū śrīpati tuja bhaktibhāvā.
O Shripati, with bhakti we wave the five-flamed aarti before You.
ananyabhāveṁ pūjuni heṁ vrata je jana ācaratī.
Those who offer puja with an undivided heart and keep this vrat —
icchita puravisi tyāṁteṁ deuni saṁtati saṁpatti.
You fulfil their wishes, giving them children and plenty.
saṁharasī bhavaduriteṁ sarvahi baṁdhane tuṭatī.
You destroy the wrongs of this worldly life, and every bond breaks.
rājā raṁkā samāna mānuni pāvasi śrīpatī.
Holding king and beggar alike, O Shripati, You come to them.
jaya jaya dīnadayāḷā satyanārāyaṇa devā.
Victory, victory to You, kind to the lowly, O Satyanarayan Deva.
paṁcārati ovāḷū śrīpati tuja bhaktibhāvā.
O Shripati, with bhakti we wave the five-flamed aarti before You.
aisā tava vratamahimā apāra varṇūṁ mī kaisā.
Such is the boundless glory of Your vrat — how am I to describe it?
bhaktipuraḥsara ācaratī tyāṁ pāvasi jagadīśā.
To those who keep it with bhakti You come, O Jagadish, Master of the world.
bhaktāṁcā kanavāḷū kalpadruma tūṁ sarveśā.
Tender to Your bhaktas, You are the tree that grants every wish, O Sarvesha, Master of all.
moreśvarasuta vāsudeva tuja vinavī bhavanāśā.
Vasudev, son of Moreshwar, humbly entreats You, who end the round of worldly life.
jaya jaya dīnadayāḷā satyanārāyaṇa devā.
Victory, victory to You, kind to the lowly, O Satyanarayan Deva.
paṁcārati ovāḷū śrīpati tuja bhaktibhāvā.
O Shripati, with bhakti we wave the five-flamed aarti before You.
