Strong
A strong Surya — in the 10th house where it has dik bala, exalted in Aries, in its own Leo, or in a day birth in Uttarayana — gives ambition with a kind heart: you lead, keep your word, respect your elders and are respected by people in power. Your father, the government and men in authority help you, health and eyesight hold good, and you rise above the circumstances you were born into. Its gifts show most clearly from about 22 to 24.
Weak
An afflicted Surya — debilitated in Libra, in the 8th or 12th, or pressed by Shani or Rahu — shows as pride, temper and a need to be right, friction with your father or your bosses, and recognition that comes late and only after hard work. The areas to care for are the eyes, the heart, the head and the bones; see a doctor for anything persistent. Offer water to Surya Dev at sunrise, keep Sundays simple, and give wheat and jaggery.
