Strong
A strong Guru — in the lagna where it has dik bala, exalted in Cancer, in its own Sagittarius or Pisces, or in a kendra — gives good sense, faith, generosity and a respected name: children and students do well by you, money grows steadily, and people in high places ask your advice. It is the graha of grace; where Guru is strong, trouble does not stay long. Its results ripen from about 16 to 22.
Weak
An afflicted Guru — debilitated in Capricorn, combust, retrograde, or joined by Rahu — shows as over-optimism and false hopes, lavish spending and debts, standing surety for others, worry through children, and good advice that goes unheard. The areas to care for are the liver, weight and rich food; see a doctor for anything persistent. Honour your teachers, keep Thursdays for Bhagwan Vishnu, and give chana dal, turmeric or yellow cloth.
