నమో నమో దుర్గే సుఖ కరనీ।
నమో నమో దుర్గే దుఃఖ హరనీ॥

I bow to You again and again, O Durga Maa, giver of joy; I bow to You again and again, O Durga Maa, remover of sorrow.

నిరంకార హై జ్యోతి తుమ్హారీ।
తిహూఁ లోక ఫైలీ ఉజియారీ॥

Your light is formless, and its radiance fills the three worlds.

శశి లలాట ముఖ మహావిశాలా।
నేత్ర లాల భృకుటి వికరాలా॥

The Moon adorns Your brow and Your face is vast; Your eyes are red and Your frown is fearsome.

రూప మాతు కో అధిక సుహావే।
దరశ కరత జన అతి సుఖ పావే॥

O Maa, Your form is beautiful beyond words; whoever takes Your darshan finds great joy.

తుమ సంసార శక్తి లై కీనా।
పాలన హేతు అన్న ధన దీనా॥

By Your Shakti You made the world, and You gave it food and wealth to sustain it.

అన్నపూర్ణా హుఈ జగ పాలా।
తుమ హీ ఆది సున్దరీ బాలా॥

As Annapurna You nourish the world; You are the first and eternal Bala Sundari.

ప్రలయకాల సబ నాశన హారీ।
తుమ గౌరీ శివశంకర ప్యారీ॥

At the time of pralaya it is You who bring all things to an end; You are Gauri, beloved of Shiv Shankar.

శివ యోగీ తుమ్హరే గుణ గావేం।
బ్రహ్మా విష్ణు తుమ్హేం నిత ధ్యావేం॥

Shiv ji and the yogis sing Your praise; Brahma ji and Vishnu ji hold You in dhyana always.

రూప సరస్వతీ కో తుమ ధారా।
దే సుబుద్ధి ఋషి మునిన ఉబారా॥

You took the form of Saraswati Maa, and gave good understanding to the rishis and sages, and raised them up.

ధరయో రూప నరసింహ కో అమ్బా।
పరగట భఈ ఫాడకర ఖమ్బా॥

O Amba, it was You who took the form of Narasimha and came forth, splitting the pillar.

రక్షా కరి ప్రహ్లాద బచాయో।
హిరణ్యాక్ష కో స్వర్గ పఠాయో॥

So You protected Prahlad and saved him, and sent Hiranyaksha to heaven.

లక్ష్మీ రూప ధరో జగ మాహీం।
శ్రీ నారాయణ అంగ సమాహీం॥

In the world You took the form of Lakshmi Maa and dwell at the side of Shri Narayan.

క్షీరసిన్ధు మేం కరత విలాసా।
దయాసిన్ధు దీజై మన ఆసా॥

You delight in the Ocean of Milk; O Ocean of Mercy, fulfil the hopes of my heart.

హింగలాజ మేం తుమ్హీం భవానీ।
మహిమా అమిత న జాత బఖానీ॥

O Bhavani, at Hinglaj it is You alone; Your boundless glory cannot be told.

మాతంగీ అరు ధూమావతి మాతా।
భువనేశ్వరీ బగలా సుఖ దాతా॥

You are Matangi and Dhumavati Mata; You are Bhuvaneshwari and Bagala, the givers of joy.

శ్రీ భైరవ తారా జగ తారిణీ।
ఛిన్న భాల భవ దుఃఖ నివారిణీ॥

You are Shri Bhairavi and Tara, who carry the world across; as Chhinnamasta You take away the sorrows of this world.

కేహరి వాహన సోహ భవానీ।
లాంగుర వీర చలత అగవానీ॥

O Bhavani, You are resplendent on Your lion, and the valiant Langur goes before You.

కర మేం ఖప్పర ఖడ్గ విరాజై।
జాకో దేఖ కాల డర భాజై॥

The khappar and the sword shine in Your hands; seeing them, even Kaal flees in fear.

సోహై అస్త్ర ఔర త్రిశూలా।
జాతే ఉఠత శత్రు హియ శూలా॥

Weapons and the trishul shine in Your hands; at the sight of them, pain rises in the enemy's heart.

నగరకోట మేం తుమ్హీం విరాజత।
తిహుఁలోక మేం డంకా బాజత॥

You Yourself are enthroned at Nagarkot, and Your drum resounds through the three worlds.

శుమ్భ నిశుమ్భ దానవ తుమ మారే।
రక్తబీజ శంఖన సంహారే॥

You slew the asuras Shumbh and Nishumbh; You destroyed Raktabeej and Shankhasur.

మహిషాసుర నృప అతి అభిమానీ।
జేహి అఘ భార మహీ అకులానీ॥

The asura king Mahishasura was exceedingly arrogant; the earth was in anguish under the weight of his sins.

రూప కరాల కాలికా ధారా।
సేన సహిత తుమ తిహి సంహారా॥

You took the dreadful form of Kalika and slew him with all his army.

పడీ భీఢ సంతన పర జబ జబ।
భయి సహాయ మాతు తుమ తబ తబ॥

Whenever trouble fell upon the saints, O Maa, You came to their help.

అమరపురీ అరు బాసవ లోకా।
తబ మహిమా సబ కహేం అశోకా॥

In Amarpuri and in Indra's world, all tell of Your glory and are free of sorrow.

జ్వాలా మేం హై జ్యోతి తుమ్హారీ।
తుమ్హేం సదా పూజేం నర నారీ॥

Your light shines in the flame at Jwala ji; men and women offer puja to You always.

ప్రేమ భక్తి సే జో యశ గావేం।
దుఃఖ దారిద్ర నికట నహిం ఆవేం॥

Sorrow and poverty never come near those who sing Your glory with love and bhakti.

ధ్యావే తుమ్హేం జో నర మన లాయి।
జన్మ మరణ తే సౌం ఛుట జాయి॥

Whoever holds You in dhyana with the whole mind is freed from birth and death.

జోగీ సుర ముని కహత పుకారీ।
యోగ న హోయి బిన శక్తి తుమ్హారీ॥

Yogis, devas and sages proclaim that there is no yoga without Your Shakti.

శంకర ఆచారజ తప కీనో।
కామ అరు క్రోధ జీత సబ లీనో॥

Shankaracharya performed tapas and conquered desire and anger entirely.

నిశిదిన ధ్యాన ధరో శంకర కో।
కాహు కాల నహిం సుమిరో తుమకో॥

He held Shankar in dhyana day and night, but never once remembered You.

శక్తి రూప కో మరమ న పాయో।
శక్తి గయీ తబ మన పఛతాయో॥

He did not grasp the secret of Your form as Shakti; when his strength left him, he repented in his heart.

శరణాగత హుయి కీర్తి బఖానీ।
జయ జయ జయ జగదంబ భవానీ॥

Taking refuge in You, he sang Your glory: "Glory, glory, glory to Jagdamba Bhavani."

భయి ప్రసన్న ఆది జగదంబా।
దయి శక్తి నహిం కీన విలంబా॥

Adi Jagdamba was pleased and restored his strength without delay.

మోకో మాతు కష్ట అతి ఘేరో।
తుమ బిన కౌన హరై దుఃఖ మేరో॥

O Maa, great troubles surround me; who but You can take away my sorrow?

ఆశా తృష్ణా నిపట సతావేం।
రిపు మూరఖ మోహి అతి దర పావైం॥

Hope and craving torment me without end, and foolish enemies fill me with fear.

శత్రు నాశ కీజై మహారానీ।
సుమిరౌం ఇకచిత తుమ్హేం భవానీ॥

O Maharani, destroy my enemies; O Bhavani, I remember You alone, with a single mind.

కరో కృపా హే మాతు దయాలా।
ఋద్ధి-సిద్ధి దే కరహు నిహాలా।

O compassionate Maa, have mercy on me; grant me riddhi and siddhi and fill my life with blessing.

జబ లగి జియూ దయా ఫల పావూ।
తుమ్హరో యశ మైం సదా సునావూ॥

As long as I live, may I receive the fruit of Your mercy, and may I ever tell of Your glory.

దుర్గా చాలీసా జో గావై।
సబ సుఖ భోగ పరమపద పావై॥

Whoever sings this Durga Chalisa enjoys every happiness and attains the highest state.

దేవీదాస శరణ నిజ జానీ।
కరహు కృపా జగదంబ భవానీ॥

Knowing that Devidas has taken refuge in You, have mercy on him, O Jagdamba Bhavani.

శరణాగత రక్షా కరే, భక్త రహే నిఃశంక।

You protect the one who comes to You for refuge, and Your bhakt lives free of fear.

మైం ఆయా తేరీ శరణ మేం, మాతు లీజియే అంక॥

I have come to You for refuge, Maa — take me in Your lap.
