architaanaamamoortaanaan pitॄnaan deeptatejasaam.
To the pitars — honoured, without form, blazing with light —
namasyaami sadaa teshaan dhyaaninaan divyachakshushaam.
I bow always, to them held in dhyan, whose eyes see beyond this world.
indraadeenaan ch netaaro dakshamaareechayostathaa.
Those who lead Indra and the others, Daksha and Marichi,
saptarsheenaan tathaanyeshaan taannamasyaami kaamadaan.
the seven rishis and others besides — to them, the givers of what is wished for, I bow.
manvaadeenaan ch netaarah sooryaachandramasostathaa.
Those who lead Manu and the others, the Sun and the Moon —
taannamasyaamyahan sarvaan pitॄnapyudadhaavapi.
to all those pitars I bow, and to the pitars in the ocean too.
nakshatraanaan grahaanaan ch vaayvagnyornabhasastathaa.
Those of the stars and the planets, of wind and fire and the sky,
dyaavaaprithivyoshch tathaa namasyaami kritaanjalih.
of heaven and earth — to them I bow with joined palms.
devarsheenaan janitॄnshch sarvalokanamaskritaan.
The fathers of the devarshis, honoured by every world,
akshayyasy sadaa daatॄn namasye'han kritaanjalih.
who always give what never runs out — to them I bow with joined palms.
prajaapateh kashyapaay somaay varunaay ch.
To Prajapati, to Kashyapa, to Soma and to Varuna,
yogeshvarebhyashch sadaa namasyaami kritaanjalih.
and to the masters of yoga, always, I bow with joined palms.
namo ganebhyah saptabhyastathaa lokeshu saptasu.
Salutations to the seven hosts of pitars in the seven worlds;
svayambhuve namasyaami brahmane yogachakshushe.
I bow to self-born Brahma, whose eye is yoga.
somaadhaaraan pitriganaan yogamoortidharaanstathaa.
To the hosts of pitars who rest on Soma, who take the form of yoga,
namasyaami tathaa soman pitaran jagataamaham.
I bow; and to Soma, the father of the worlds.
agniroopaanstathaivaanyaan namasyaami pitॄnaham.
I bow as well to the other pitars, whose form is fire,
agnisomamayan vishvan yat etadasheshatah.
for this whole world, all of it, is made of fire and Soma.
ye ch tejasi ye chaite somasooryaagnimoortayah.
Those who dwell in light, whose forms are the Moon, the Sun and fire,
jagatsvaroopinashchaiv tathaa brahmasvaroopinah.
who are the world itself, and who are Brahman itself —
tebhyo'khilebhyo yogibhyah pitribhyo yatamaanasah.
to all of them, the yogis, the pitars, with a mind held still:
namo namo namaste'stu praseedantu svadhaabhujah.
salutations, salutations, salutations; may they who take svadha be pleased.
