Om, glory to Shiv ji, whose form is Om; O Swami, glory to Shiv ji, whose form is Om.

brahmaa vishnu sadaashiv arddhaangee dhaaraa.

You are Brahma, Vishnu and Sadashiv, and You bear the Devi as half of Yourself.

ekaanan chaturaanan panchaanan raaje.

In Your one-faced, four-faced and five-faced forms You shine;

hansaasan garudaasan vrishavaahan saaje.

You are resplendent seated on the swan, on Garuda, and riding the bull.

do bhuj chaar chaturbhuj das bhuj te sohe.

With two arms, with four arms, with ten arms You are adorned;

teenon roop nirakhataa tribhuvan jan mohe.

beholding Your three forms, the people of the three worlds are enchanted.

akshamaalaa vanamaalaa mundamaalaa dhaaree.

You wear the akshamala, the garland of forest flowers and the garland of skulls;

chandan mrigamad sohe bhaale shashidhaaree.

chandan and musk adorn Your brow, O bearer of the Moon.

shvetaambar peetaambar baaghambar ange.

White cloth, yellow silk and the tiger skin adorn Your body;

sanakaadik garunaadik bhootaadik sange.

Sanaka and the sages, Garuda and his kind, and the bhoot-ganas are ever with You.

kar ke madhy kamandalu chakr trishooladhaaree.

In Your hands You hold the kamandalu, the chakra and the trishul;

sukhakaaree dukhahaaree jagapaalan kaaree.

You give joy, You take away sorrow, You sustain the world.

brahmaa vishnu sadaashiv jaanat avivekaa.

Brahma, Vishnu and Sadashiv — only the undiscerning take them to be three;

pranavaakshar madhye ye teenon ekaa.

within the syllable Om these three are one.

lakshmee v saavitree paarvatee sangaa.

Lakshmi Maa, Savitri and Parvati Maa are at your side;

paarvatee arddhaangee, shivalaharee gangaa.

Parvati Maa is half of your body, and Ganga Maa flows from you in waves.

parvat sohain paarvatee, shankar kailaasaa.

Parvati Maa shines on the mountain, and Shankar dwells on Kailash;

bhaang dhatoor kaa bhojan, bhasmee men vaasaa.

bhang and dhatura are your food, and you live in ash.

jataa men gang bahat hai, gal mundan maalaa.

Ganga Maa flows in your matted hair, and a garland of skulls hangs at your throat;

shesh naag lipataavat, odhat mrigachhaalaa.

Shesh Naag winds about you, and you wear a deerskin.

kaashee men viraaje vishvanaath, nandee brahmachaaree.

In Kashi you sit as Vishwanath, with Nandi, the brahmachari, before you;

nit uth darshan paavat, mahimaa ati bhaaree.

those who rise each day and come for your darshan know how great your glory is.

trigun shiv jee kee aaratee jo koee nar gaave.

Whoever sings this aarti of Shiv ji, who holds the three gunas,

kahat shivaanand svaamee manavaanchhit phal paave.
