jayati jayati jaya lalite mātā. tava guṇa mahimā hai vikhyātā.

Glory, glory, glory to You, Lalita Maa; the greatness of Your virtues is known to all.

tū sundarī, tripureśvarī devī. sura nara muni tere pada sevī.

You are the Beautiful One, Tripureshwari Devi; devas, men and sages serve at Your feet.

tū kalyāṇī kaṣṭa nivāriṇī. tū sukha dāyinī, vipadā hāriṇī.

You bring all good and take away pain; You give joy and remove every misfortune.

moha vināśinī daitya nāśinī. bhakta bhāvinī jyoti prakāśinī.

You destroy delusion and destroy the daityas; You cherish Your bhaktas and shine forth as light.

5

ādi śakti śrī vidyā rūpā. cakra svāminī deha anūpā.

You are the Adi Shakti, whose form is Shri Vidya; Mistress of the Shri Chakra, Your form is beyond compare.

hr̥daya nivāsinī-bhakta tāriṇī. nānā kaṣṭa vipati dala hāriṇī.

You dwell in the heart and carry Your bhaktas across; You scatter whole hosts of pains and perils.

daśa vidyā hai rūpa tumhārā. śrī candreśvarī naimiṣa pyārā.

The ten Mahavidyas are Your forms; as Shri Chandreshwari You hold Naimish dear.

dhūmā, bagalā, bhairavī, tārā. bhuvaneśvarī, kamalā, vistārā.

You spread Yourself forth as Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Bhairavi, Tara, Bhuvaneshwari and Kamala,

ṣoḍaśī, chinnamastā, mātaṁgī. laliteśakti tumhārī saṁgī.

as Shodashi, Chhinnamasta and Matangi; the Shakti of Lalita is ever with You.

lalite tuma ho jyotita bhālā. bhakta janoṁ kā kāma saṁbhālā.

O Lalita, Your brow shines with light, and You have taken up the cares of Your bhaktas.

bhārī saṁkaṭa jaba-jaba āye. unase tumane bhakta bacāe.

Whenever great troubles came, You saved Your bhaktas from them.

12

jisane kr̥pā tumhārī pāyī. usakī saba vidhi se bana āyī.

Whoever has received Your grace finds that all goes well in every way.

13

saṁkaṭa dūra karo mām̐ bhārī. bhakta janoṁ ko āsa tumhārī.

Take away our heavy troubles, O Maa; Your bhaktas place their hope in You.

tripureśvarī, śailajā, bhavānī. jaya jaya jaya śiva kī mahārānī.

O Tripureshwari, Shailaja, Bhavani: glory, glory, glory to You, great queen of Shiv ji.

yoga siddhi pāveṁ saba yogī. bhogeṁ bhoga mahā sukha bhogī.

Through You yogis attain the siddhi of yoga, and those who live in the world enjoy its joys and great happiness.

kr̥pā tumhārī pāke mātā. jīvana sukhamaya hai bana jātā.

Once Your grace is received, O Maa, life becomes full of joy.

17

dukhiyoṁ ko tumane apanāyā. mahā mūḍha jo śaraṇa na āyā.

You have taken the sorrowing as Your own; only the utterly deluded do not come to Your refuge.

18

tumane jisakī ora nihārā. milī use sampatti, sukha sārā.

Whomever You look upon receives wealth and every happiness.

19

ādi śakti jaya tripura pyārī. mahāśakti jaya jaya, bhaya hārī.

Glory to You, Adi Shakti, beloved Tripura; glory, glory to You, Mahashakti, who take away all fear.

20

kula yoginī, kuṇḍalinī rūpā. līlā lalite kareṁ anūpā.

You are Kulayogini, You are Kundalini in form; O Lalita, Your leela is beyond compare.

mahā-maheśvarī, mahā śakti de. tripura-sundarī sadā bhakti de.

O Maha Maheshwari, grant us great strength; O Tripura Sundari, grant us bhakti always.

mahā mahā-nande kalyāṇī. mūkoṁ ko detī ho vāṇī.

O Mahanande, supreme in bliss, O Kalyani, You give speech even to the mute.

23

icchā-jñāna-kriyā kā bhāgī. hotā taba sevā anurāgī.

Whoever comes to share in will, knowledge and action comes to love serving You.

24

jo lalite terā guṇa gāve. use na koī kaṣṭa satāve.

Whoever sings Your virtues, O Lalita, is troubled by no suffering.

25

sarva maṁgale jvālā-mālinī. tuma ho sarva śakti saṁcālinī.

O Sarva Mangala, garlanded with flames, You set every power in motion.

26

āyā mām̐ jo śaraṇa tumhārī. vipadā harī usī kī sārī.

Whoever comes to Your refuge, O Maa, has every trouble taken away.

27

nāmā karṣiṇī, cintā karṣiṇī. sarva mohinī saba sukha-varṣiṇī.

Your name draws all to You and draws away every care; You enchant all, and rain down every joy.

28

mahimā tava saba jaga vikhyātā. tuma ho dayāmayī jaga mātā.

Your greatness is known throughout the world; You are the compassionate Mother of the world.

29

saba saubhāgya dāyinī lalitā. tuma ho sukhadā karuṇā kalitā.

O Lalita, giver of all good fortune, You give joy and are full of compassion.

30

ānanda, sukha, sampatti detī ho. kaṣṭa bhayānaka hara letī ho.

You give bliss, happiness and wealth, and take away the most dreadful afflictions.

31

mana se jo jana tumako dhyāve. vaha turanta mana vāṁchita pāve.

Whoever holds You in dhyana with the whole mind receives at once what the heart desires.

32

lakṣmī, durgā tuma ho kālī. tumhīṁ śāradā cakra-kapālī.

You are Lakshmi, You are Durga, You are Kali; You alone are Sharada, and She who bears the chakra and the skull.

33

mūlādhāra, nivāsinī jaya jaya. sahasrāra gāminī mām̐ jaya jaya.

Glory, glory to You who dwell in the Muladhara; glory, glory to You, Maa, who rise to the Sahasrara.

cha: cakroṁ ko bhedane vālī. karatī ho sabakī rakhavālī.

You pierce the six chakras, and You watch over all.

35

yogī, bhogī, krodhī, kāmī. saba haiṁ sevaka saba anugāmī.

The yogi and the pleasure-seeker, the angry and the lustful: all are Your servants, and all follow You.

36

sabako pāra lagātī ho mām̐. saba para dayā dikhātī ho mām̐.

You carry all across, O Maa; You show mercy to all, O Maa.

37

hemāvatī, umā, brahmāṇī. bhaṇḍāsura ki hr̥daya vidāriṇī.

You are Hemavati, Uma and Brahmani, who tore open the heart of Bhandasura.

38

sarva vipati hara, sarvādhāre. tumane kuṭila kupaṁthī tāre.

Remover of every affliction, foundation of all, You have saved even the crooked and the wayward.

39

candra-dhāriṇī, naimiśvāsinī. kr̥pā karo lalite adhanāśinī.

Bearer of the Moon, dweller in Naimish, have mercy, O Lalita, destroyer of sin.

40

bhakta janoṁ ko darasa dikhāo. saṁśaya bhaya saba śīghra miṭāo.

Give Your darshan to Your bhaktas, and quickly remove all doubt and fear.

41

jo koī paḍhe lalitā cālīsā. hove sukha ānanda adhīsā.

Whoever reads this Lalita Chalisa becomes master of happiness and joy.

42

jisa para koī saṁkaṭa āve. pāṭha kare saṁkaṭa miṭa jāve.

Whoever meets with trouble and recites this path sees that trouble end.

43

dhyāna lagā paḍhe ikkīsa bārā. pūrṇa manoratha hove sārā.

Whoever reads it twenty-one times with the mind held in dhyan has every wish fulfilled.

44

putra-hīna saṁtati sukha pāve. nirdhana dhanī bane guṇa gāve.

The childless find the joy of children, and the poor who sing Your praise become rich.

45

isa vidhi pāṭha kare jo koī. duḥkha bandhana chūṭe sukha hoī.

Whoever recites it in this way is freed from the bonds of sorrow and finds joy.

46

jitendra candra bhāratīya batāveṁ. paḍheṁ cālīsā to sukha pāveṁ.

Jitendra Chandra Bharatiya says: whoever reads this Chalisa will find happiness.

47

sabase laghu upāya yaha jāno. siddha hoya mana meṁ jo ṭhāno.

Know this to be the simplest of all means: whatever the mind resolves upon is accomplished.

lalitā kare hr̥daya meṁ bāsā. siddhi deta lalitā cālīsā.

Lalita Maa makes Her dwelling in the heart, and the Lalita Chalisa grants every siddhi.

Closing doha

lalite mām̐ aba kr̥pā karo, siddha karo saba kāma. śraddhā se sira nāya kare, karate tumheṁ praṇāma.

O Lalita Maa, have mercy now and bring all our works to fulfilment. Bowing our heads in faith, we offer You our pranam.
