shreeguru charan saroj raj, nij manu mukuru sudhaari.

With the dust of my guru's lotus feet I polish the mirror of my mind,

baranaun raghubar bimal jasu, jo daayaku phal chaari.

and tell the spotless glory of Raghuvara, giver of the four fruits of life.

buddhiheen tanu jaanike, sumiraun pavan-kumaar.

Knowing this body to be without wisdom, I remember the son of the Wind;

bal budhi bidyaa dehu mohin, harahu kales bikaar.

give me strength, wisdom and knowledge; take away my troubles and flaws.

Hail Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtue; hail the lord of monkeys, who lights the three worlds.

In your hands the mace and the banner; on your shoulder the sacred thread of munja grass.

sankar suvan kesareenandan. tej prataap mahaa jag bandan.

Shankara's own, Kesari's delight; your radiance and might the whole world honours.

bidyaavaan gunee ati chaatur. raam kaaj karibe ko aatur.

Learned, virtuous, most clever; eager to do Rama's work.

prabhu charitr sunibe ko rasiyaa. raam lakhan seetaa man basiyaa.

You delight in hearing Ram ji's deeds; Rama, Lakshmana and Sita dwell in your heart.

sookshm roop dhari siyahin dikhaavaa. bikat roop dhari lank jaraavaa.

In a tiny form you appeared to Sita; in a terrible form you burned Lanka.

bheem roop dhari asur sanhaare. raamachandr ke kaaj sanvaare.

In a giant form you slew the asuras and set Ramachandra's work right.

laay sajeevan lakhan jiyaaye. shreeraghubeer harashi ur laaye.

You brought the sanjivani and revived Lakshmana; Raghuvira, overjoyed, held you to his heart.

raghupati keenhee bahut badaaee. tum mam priy bharatahi sam bhaaee.

The lord of the Raghus praised you greatly: you are as dear to me as my brother Bharata.

sahas badan tumharo jas gaavain. as kahi shreepati kanth lagaavain.

A thousand mouths sing your glory — so saying, the lord of Shri embraced you.

sanakaadik brahmaadi muneesaa. naarad saarad sahit aheesaa.

Sanaka and the sages, Brahma and the gods, Narada, Sharada and the serpent king —

jam kuber digapaal jahaan te. kabi kobid kahi sake kahaan te.

Yama, Kubera, the guardians of the directions — where poets and scholars could not tell your glory.

tum upakaar sugreevahin keenhaa. raam milaay raaj pad deenhaa.

You did Sugriva a great service: you brought him to Rama and gave him his kingdom.

tumharo mantr bibheeshan maanaa. lankesvar bhae sab jag jaanaa.

Vibhishana took your counsel and became lord of Lanka, as all the world knows.

jug sahasr jojan par bhaanoo. leelyo taahi madhur phal jaanoo.

The Sun, thousands of ages of yojanas away — you swallowed it, thinking it a sweet fruit.

prabhu mudrikaa meli mukh maaheen. jaladhi laanghi gaye acharaj naaheen.

With Ram ji's ring in your mouth you leapt the ocean — no wonder at all.

durgam kaaj jagat ke jete. sugam anugrah tumhare tete.

Every hard task in the world becomes easy by your grace.

raam duaare tum rakhavaare. hot n aajnaa binu paisaare.

You are the keeper of Rama's door; none enters without your leave.

sab sukh lahai tumhaaree saranaa. tum rachchhak kaahoo ko dar naa.

All happiness is found in your shelter; with you as protector, there is nothing to fear.

aapan tej samhaaro aapai. teenon lok haank ten kaanpai.

You alone can hold your own radiance; the three worlds tremble at your roar.

bhoot pisaach nikat nahin aavai. mahaabeer jab naam sunaavai.

Ghosts and asuras do not come near when the great hero's name is spoken.

naasai rog harai sab peeraa. japat nirantar hanumat beeraa.

Illness is destroyed, all pain removed, by constantly repeating brave Hanuman's name.

sankat ten hanumaan chhudaavai. man kram bachan dhyaan jo laavai.

Hanuman frees from trouble those who hold him in mind, deed and word.

sab par raam tapasvee raajaa. tin ke kaaj sakal tum saajaa.

Rama the ascetic king is over all; and all his work you accomplished.

aur manorath jo koee laavai. soi amit jeevan phal paavai.

Whoever brings another wish to you gains the limitless fruit of life.

chaaron jug parataap tumhaaraa. hai parasiddh jagat ujiyaaraa.

Through all four ages your glory has been known, lighting the world.

saadhu sant ke tum rakhavaare. asur nikandan raam dulaare.

You are the guardian of the good and the saintly, destroyer of asuras, Rama's beloved.

asht siddhi nau nidhi ke daataa. as bar deen jaanakee maataa.

Giver of the eight powers and nine treasures — so Mother Janaki blessed you.

raam rasaayan tumhare paasaa. sadaa raho raghupati ke daasaa.

You hold the elixir that is Rama; may you ever remain the servant of Raghupati.

tumhare bhajan raam ko paavai. janam janam ke dukh bisaraavai.

Through your worship one reaches Rama and forgets the sorrows of many births.

ant kaal raghubar pur jaaee. jahaan janm hari-bhakt kahaaee.

At the end one goes to Raghuvara's city, and wherever born is called one who keeps Hari.

aur devataa chitt n dharaee. hanumat sei sarb sukh karaee.

No need to hold other gods in mind; serving Hanuman brings every happiness.

sankat katai mitai sab peeraa. jo sumirai hanumat balabeeraa.

Trouble is cut away, all pain erased, for one who remembers mighty Hanuman.

jay jay jay hanumaan gosaaeen. kripaa karahu gurudev kee naaeen.

Hail, hail, hail Hanuman, lord; be gracious as a guru is.

jo sat baar paath kar koee. chhootahi bandi mahaa sukh hoee.

Whoever recites this a hundred times is freed from bondage and finds great joy.

jo yah padhai hanumaan chaaleesaa. hoy siddhi saakhee gaureesaa.

Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa attains fulfilment — Gauri's lord is witness.

tulaseedaas sadaa hari cheraa. keejai naath hriday mahan deraa.

Tulsidas, ever Hari's servant, asks: Ram ji, make your home in my heart.

Son of the Wind, remover of trouble, the very form of auspiciousness —
