શ્રીગુરુ ચરન સરોજ રજ, નિજ મનુ મુકુરુ સુધારિ।

With the dust of my guru's lotus feet I polish the mirror of my mind,

બરનઉઁ રઘુબર બિમલ જસુ, જો દાયકુ ફલ ચારિ॥

and tell the spotless glory of Raghuvara, giver of the four fruits of life.

બુદ્ધિહીન તનુ જાનિકે, સુમિરૌં પવન-કુમાર।

Knowing this body to be without wisdom, I remember the son of the Wind;

બલ બુધિ બિદ્યા દેહુ મોહિં, હરહુ કલેસ બિકાર॥

give me strength, wisdom and knowledge; take away my troubles and flaws.

જય હનુમાન જ્ઞાન ગુન સાગર।
જય કપીસ તિહુઁ લોક ઉજાગર॥

Hail Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtue; hail the lord of monkeys, who lights the three worlds.

રામ દૂત અતુલિત બલ ધામા।
અંજનિ-પુત્ર પવનસુત નામા॥

Rama's messenger, abode of matchless strength; Anjani's son, called son of the Wind.

મહાબીર બિક્રમ બજરંગી।
કુમતિ નિવાર સુમતિ કે સંગી॥

Great hero, mighty, with limbs of thunderbolt; remover of bad thought, companion of good.

કંચન બરન બિરાજ સુબેસા।
કાનન કુંડલ કુંચિત કેસા॥

Golden of colour, handsomely dressed; earrings in your ears, curling hair.

હાથ બજ્ર ઔ ધ્વજા બિરાજૈ।
કાઁધે મૂઁજ જનેઊ સાજૈ॥

In your hands the mace and the banner; on your shoulder the sacred thread of munja grass.

સંકર સુવન કેસરીનંદન।
તેજ પ્રતાપ મહા જગ બંદન॥

Shankara's own, Kesari's delight; your radiance and might the whole world honours.

બિદ્યાવાન ગુની અતિ ચાતુર।
રામ કાજ કરિબે કો આતુર॥

Learned, virtuous, most clever; eager to do Rama's work.

પ્રભુ ચરિત્ર સુનિબે કો રસિયા।
રામ લખન સીતા મન બસિયા॥

You delight in hearing Ram ji's deeds; Rama, Lakshmana and Sita dwell in your heart.

સૂક્ષ્મ રૂપ ધરિ સિયહિં દિખાવા।
બિકટ રૂપ ધરિ લંક જરાવા॥

In a tiny form you appeared to Sita; in a terrible form you burned Lanka.

ભીમ રૂપ ધરિ અસુર સઁહારે।
રામચંદ્ર કે કાજ સઁવારે॥

In a giant form you slew the asuras and set Ramachandra's work right.

લાય સજીવન લખન જિયાયે।
શ્રીરઘુબીર હરષિ ઉર લાયે॥

You brought the sanjivani and revived Lakshmana; Raghuvira, overjoyed, held you to his heart.

રઘુપતિ કીન્હી બહુત બડાઈ।
તુમ મમ પ્રિય ભરતહિ સમ ભાઈ॥

The lord of the Raghus praised you greatly: you are as dear to me as my brother Bharata.

સહસ બદન તુમ્હરો જસ ગાવૈં।
અસ કહિ શ્રીપતિ કંઠ લગાવૈં॥

A thousand mouths sing your glory — so saying, the lord of Shri embraced you.

સનકાદિક બ્રહ્માદિ મુનીસા।
નારદ સારદ સહિત અહીસા॥

Sanaka and the sages, Brahma and the gods, Narada, Sharada and the serpent king —

જમ કુબેર દિગપાલ જહાઁ તે।
કબિ કોબિદ કહિ સકે કહાઁ તે॥

Yama, Kubera, the guardians of the directions — where poets and scholars could not tell your glory.

તુમ ઉપકાર સુગ્રીવહિં કીન્હા।
રામ મિલાય રાજ પદ દીન્હા॥

You did Sugriva a great service: you brought him to Rama and gave him his kingdom.

તુમ્હરો મંત્ર બિભીષન માના।
લંકેસ્વર ભએ સબ જગ જાના॥

Vibhishana took your counsel and became lord of Lanka, as all the world knows.

જુગ સહસ્ર જોજન પર ભાનૂ।
લીલ્યો તાહિ મધુર ફલ જાનૂ॥

The Sun, thousands of ages of yojanas away — you swallowed it, thinking it a sweet fruit.

પ્રભુ મુદ્રિકા મેલિ મુખ માહીં।
જલધિ લાઁઘિ ગયે અચરજ નાહીં॥

With Ram ji's ring in your mouth you leapt the ocean — no wonder at all.

દુર્ગમ કાજ જગત કે જેતે।
સુગમ અનુગ્રહ તુમ્હરે તેતે॥

Every hard task in the world becomes easy by your grace.

રામ દુઆરે તુમ રખવારે।
હોત ન આજ્ઞા બિનુ પૈસારે॥

You are the keeper of Rama's door; none enters without your leave.

સબ સુખ લહૈ તુમ્હારી સરના।
તુમ રચ્છક કાહૂ કો ડર ના॥

All happiness is found in your shelter; with you as protector, there is nothing to fear.

આપન તેજ સમ્હારો આપૈ।
તીનોં લોક હાઁક તેં કાઁપૈ॥

You alone can hold your own radiance; the three worlds tremble at your roar.

ભૂત પિસાચ નિકટ નહિં આવૈ।
મહાબીર જબ નામ સુનાવૈ॥

Ghosts and asuras do not come near when the great hero's name is spoken.

નાસૈ રોગ હરૈ સબ પીરા।
જપત નિરંતર હનુમત બીરા॥

Illness is destroyed, all pain removed, by constantly repeating brave Hanuman's name.

સંકટ તેં હનુમાન છુડાવૈ।
મન ક્રમ બચન ધ્યાન જો લાવૈ॥

Hanuman frees from trouble those who hold him in mind, deed and word.

સબ પર રામ તપસ્વી રાજા।
તિન કે કાજ સકલ તુમ સાજા॥

Rama the ascetic king is over all; and all his work you accomplished.

ઔર મનોરથ જો કોઈ લાવૈ।
સોઇ અમિત જીવન ફલ પાવૈ॥

Whoever brings another wish to you gains the limitless fruit of life.

ચારોં જુગ પરતાપ તુમ્હારા।
હૈ પરસિદ્ધ જગત ઉજિયારા॥

Through all four ages your glory has been known, lighting the world.

સાધુ સંત કે તુમ રખવારે।
અસુર નિકંદન રામ દુલારે॥

You are the guardian of the good and the saintly, destroyer of asuras, Rama's beloved.

અષ્ટ સિદ્ધિ નૌ નિધિ કે દાતા।
અસ બર દીન જાનકી માતા॥

Giver of the eight powers and nine treasures — so Mother Janaki blessed you.

રામ રસાયન તુમ્હરે પાસા।
સદા રહો રઘુપતિ કે દાસા॥

You hold the elixir that is Rama; may you ever remain the servant of Raghupati.

તુમ્હરે ભજન રામ કો પાવૈ।
જનમ જનમ કે દુખ બિસરાવૈ॥

Through your worship one reaches Rama and forgets the sorrows of many births.

અંત કાલ રઘુબર પુર જાઈ।
જહાઁ જન્મ હરિ-ભક્ત કહાઈ॥

At the end one goes to Raghuvara's city, and wherever born is called one who keeps Hari.

ઔર દેવતા ચિત્ત ન ધરઈ।
હનુમત સેઇ સર્બ સુખ કરઈ॥

No need to hold other gods in mind; serving Hanuman brings every happiness.

સંકટ કટૈ મિટૈ સબ પીરા।
જો સુમિરૈ હનુમત બલબીરા॥

Trouble is cut away, all pain erased, for one who remembers mighty Hanuman.

જય જય જય હનુમાન ગોસાઈં।
કૃપા કરહુ ગુરુદેવ કી નાઈં॥

Hail, hail, hail Hanuman, lord; be gracious as a guru is.

જો સત બાર પાઠ કર કોઈ।
છૂટહિ બંદિ મહા સુખ હોઈ॥

Whoever recites this a hundred times is freed from bondage and finds great joy.

જો યહ પઢૈ હનુમાન ચાલીસા।
હોય સિદ્ધિ સાખી ગૌરીસા॥

Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa attains fulfilment — Gauri's lord is witness.

તુલસીદાસ સદા હરિ ચેરા।
કીજૈ નાથ હૃદય મહઁ ડેરા॥

Tulsidas, ever Hari's servant, asks: Ram ji, make your home in my heart.

પવનતનય સંકટ હરન, મંગલ મૂરતિ રૂપ।

Son of the Wind, remover of trouble, the very form of auspiciousness —

રામ લખન સીતા સહિત, હૃદય બસહુ સુર ભૂપ॥

with Rama, Lakshmana and Sita, dwell in my heart, king of gods.
