జనక జనని పద కమల రజ, నిజ మస్తక పర ధారి।
బన్దౌం మాతు సరస్వతీ, బుద్ధి బల దే దాతారి॥

Placing the dust of my parents' lotus feet upon my head, I bow to Mother Saraswati, the bestower of intellect and strength.

పూర్ణ జగత మేం వ్యాప్త తవ, మహిమా అమిత అనంతు।
రామసాగర కే పాప కో, మాతు తుహీ అబ హన్తు॥

Your infinite and immeasurable glory pervades the entire universe; O Mother, destroy now the sins of your humble servant Ramsagar.

జయ శ్రీ సకల బుద్ధి బలరాసీ।
జయ సర్వజ్ఞ అమర అవినాసీ॥

Glory to you, the auspicious treasury of all wisdom and strength; glory to the all-knowing, immortal, and imperishable Mother.

జయ జయ జయ వీణాకర ధారీ।
కరతీ సదా సుహంస సవారీ॥

All glories to the Devi who holds the veena in her hands and always rides upon a graceful white swan.

రూప చతుర్భుజధారీ మాతా।
సకల విశ్వ అన్దర విఖ్యాతా॥

O Mother of four-armed form, you are renowned throughout the entire universe.

జగ మేం పాప బుద్ధి జబ హోతీ।
జబహి ధర్మ కీ ఫీకీ జ్యోతీ॥

Whenever sinful inclinations arise across the world and the light of righteousness grows faint,

తబహి మాతు లే నిజ అవతారా।
పాప హీన కరతీ మహి తారా॥

Then, O Mother, you manifest your incarnation and liberate the earth by cleansing it of sins.

బాల్మీకి జీ థే బహమ జ్ఞానీ।
తవ ప్రసాద జానై సంసారా॥

Through your divine grace alone, the entire world came to know sage Valmiki as an enlightened seer.

రామాయణ జో రచే బనాఈ।
ఆది కవీ కీ పదవీ పాఈ॥

He composed the epic Ramayana and rightfully attained the celebrated title of the first poet.

8

కాలిదాస జో భయే విఖ్యాతా।
తేరీ కృపా దృష్టి సే మాతా॥

The great poet Kalidasa attained renown solely through the compassionate glance of your grace, O Mother.

9

తులసీ సూర ఆది విద్ధానా।
భయే ఔర జో జ్ఞానీ నానా॥

Tulsidas, Surdas, and numerous other learned masters attained supreme wisdom by your benevolence.

10

తిన్హహిం న ఔర రహేఉ అవలమ్బా।
కేవల కృపా ఆపకీ అమ్బా॥

They had no other refuge or support in the world except your divine grace, O Mother Amba.

కరహు కృపా సోఇ మాతు భవానీ।
దుఖిత దీన నిజ దాసహి జానీ॥

Bestow that very same compassionate grace, Mother Bhavani, recognizing this afflicted and humble soul as your servant.

పుత్ర కరై అపరాధ బహూతా।
తేహి న ధరఇ చిత సున్దర మాతా॥

A child may commit many errors and faults, yet a gracious mother never holds them against him in her heart.

13

రాఖు లాజ జననీ అబ మేరీ।
వినయ కరూం బహు భాఁతి ఘనేరీ॥

Protect my honour now, O Mother, as I offer abundant humble prayers unto you in diverse ways.

మైం అనాథ తేరీ అవలంబా।
కృపా కరఉ జయ జయ జగదంబా॥

I am destitute and dependent upon you alone; shower your mercy, all victory to the Mother of the Universe.

15

మధుకైటభ జో అతి బలవానా।
బాహుయుద్ధ విష్ణూ తే ఠానా॥

The immensely mighty asuras Madhu and Kaitabha waged a fierce hand-to-hand duel against Vishnu ji.

16

సమర హజార పాంచ మేం ఘోరా।
ఫిర భీ ముఖ ఉనసే నహిం మోరా॥

The terrible battle raged for five thousand years, yet Vishnu did not turn his face away from them.

17

మాతు సహాయ భఈ తేహి కాలా।
బుద్ధి విపరీత కరీ ఖలహాలా॥

At that critical moment, O Mother, you came to his aid by confusing and misdirecting the intellect of those evil asuras.

18

తేహి తే మృత్యు భఈ ఖల కేరీ।
పురవహు మాతు మనోరథ మేరీ॥

Consequently, the demise of those wicked beings was brought about; O Mother, please fulfil my heartfelt yearning.

19

చండ ముణ్డ జో థే విఖ్యాతా।
ఛణ మహుం సంహారేఉ తేహి మాతా॥

The notoriously fierce asuras Chanda and Munda were annihilated by you in an instant, O Mother.

20

రక్తబీజ సే సమరథ పాపీ।
సుర-ముని హృదయ ధరా సబ కాంపీ॥

Before the formidable sinner Raktabija, the hearts of gods, ascetics, and the whole earth trembled in terror.

21

కాటేఉ సిర జిమ కదలీ ఖమ్బా।
బార బార బినవఉం జగదంబా॥

You severed his heads effortlessly as though felling banana stems; again and again I bow in prayer to you, Jagadamba.

22

జగ ప్రసిద్ధ జో శుంభ నిశుంభా।
ఛిన మేం బధే తాహి తూ అమ్బా॥

The world-famous asura brothers Shumbha and Nishumbha were slain by you in a mere moment, O Amba.

23

భరత-మాతు బుధి ఫేరేఉ జాఈ।
రామచన్ద్ర బనవాస కరాఈ॥

You went and influenced the mind of Bharata's mother Kaikeyi, thereby causing the forest exile of Ram ji.

24

ఏహి విధి రావన వధ తుమ కీన్హా।
సుర నర ముని సబ కహుం సుఖ దీన్హా॥

In this manner you facilitated the destruction of Ravana and conferred delight and relief upon gods, humans, and sages.

25

కో సమరథ తవ యశ గున గానా।
నిగమ అనాది అనంత బఖానా॥

Who has the capacity to fully praise your glorious virtues when the eternal and beginningless Vedas celebrate them endlessly?

26

విష్ణు రూద్ర అజ సకహిం న మారీ।
జినకీ హో తుమ రక్షాకారీ॥

Even Vishnu, Rudra, or Brahma cannot slay anyone to whom you grant your divine protection.

27

రక్త దన్తికా ఔర శతాక్షీ।
నామ అపార హై దానవ భక్షీ॥

You are celebrated as Raktadantika and Shatakshi, possessing countless names as the consumer of demonic forces.

28

దుర్గమ కాజ ధరా పర కీన్హా।
దుర్గా నామ సకల జగ లీన్హా॥

Because you accomplished impossible tasks upon the earth, the entire world took up and praised your holy name Durga.

29

దుర్గ ఆది హరనీ తూ మాతా।
కృపా కరహు జబ జబ సుఖదాతా॥

O Mother who dispels all distress, misfortunes, and fear, bestow your benevolence whenever you grant joy to your own.

30

నృప కోపిత జో మారన చాహై।
కానన మేం ఘేరే మృగ నాహై॥

Even if an enraged ruler seeks one's destruction, or savage beasts surround a person in the dense forest,

31

సాగర మధ్య పోత కే భంగే।
అతి తూఫాన నహిం కోఊ సంగే॥

Or if one's ship shatters in the midst of the deep ocean and no companion remains amidst a fierce storm,

32

భూత ప్రేత బాధా యా దుఃఖ మేం।
హో దరిద్ర అథవా సంకట మేం॥

Or during troubles from evil spirits, severe sorrow, extreme poverty, or dire calamities,

33

నామ జపే మంగల సబ హోఈ।
సంశయ ఇసమేం కరఇ న కోఈ॥

All manner of auspiciousness ensues simply by reciting your holy name; let no one doubt this truth.

34

పుత్రహీన జో ఆతుర భాఈ।
సబై ఛాండి పూజేం ఏహి మాఈ॥

Anyone who is childless and deeply distressed should set aside all other anxieties and devotedly offer puja to this Divine Mother.

35

కరై పాఠ నిత యహ చాలీసా।
హోయ పుత్ర సున్దర గుణ ఈసా॥

Whoever recites this Chalisa daily is blessed with a handsome and virtuous child possessing noble qualities.

36

ధూపాదిక నైవేద్య చఢావై।
సంకట రహిత అవశ్య హో జావై॥

Whoever devoutly offers incense and sacred food offerings surely becomes freed from all crises.

37

భక్తి మాతు కీ కరై హమేశా।
నికట న ఆవై తాహి కలేశా॥

Whoever continuously maintains loving devotion to the Mother is never approached by afflictions or torment.

38

బందీ పాఠ కరేం శత బారా।
బందీ పాశ దూర హో సారా॥

If a captive recites this prayer a hundred times, all fetters of bondage and confinement fall completely away.

39

కరహు కృపా భవముక్తి భవానీ।
మో కహం దాస సదా నిజ జానీ॥

O Bhavani, grant your saving grace for final liberation from worldly rebirth, ever regarding me as your devoted servant.

40

రామసాగర బాఁధి హేతు భవానీ।
కీజై కృపా దాస నిజ జానీ॥

For untying the worldly bonds of Ramsagar, O Bhavani, bestow your compassionate grace, knowing him as your own servant.

Closing doha

మాతా సూరజ కాన్తి తవ, అంధకార మమ రూప।
డూబన తే రక్షా కరహు, పరూం న మైం భవ-కూప॥

O Mother, your radiant splendour is like the luminous sun while my existence is enveloped in darkness; save me from drowning so that I never fall into the deep well of worldly illusion.

బల బుద్ధి విద్యా దేహుం మోహి, సునహు సరస్వతి మాతు।
అధమ రామసాగరహిం తుమ, ఆశ్రయ దేఉ పునాతు॥

Heed my plea, Mother Saraswati, and grant me strength, intellect, and sacred learning, offering purifying shelter to the fallen Ramsagar.
