hrīṁ śrīṁ klīṁ medhā prabhā jīvana jyoti pracaṇḍa. śānti krānti jāgr̥ti pragati racanā śakti akhaṇḍa.
Mother Gayatri, who embodies the sacred seed syllables Hrim, Shrim, and Klim, is the supreme wisdom, radiant light of life, and the eternal wellspring of peace, transformation, spiritual awakening, progress, and unbroken creative power.
jagata janani maṁgala karani gāyatrī sukhadhāma. praṇavoṁ sāvitrī svadhā svāhā pūrana kāma.
I bow to Mother Gayatri, the benevolent mother of the universe and the dwelling of all joy, who manifests as Savitri, Svadha, and Svaha, fulfilling every righteous wish of her own.
Chaupai
bhūrbhuvaḥ svaḥ oṁ yuta jananī. gāyatrī nita kalimala dahanī.
United with the sacred Om and the three mystical realms Bhur, Bhuvah, and Svah, Mother Gayatri perpetually consumes and purifies the sins and impurities of the Kali age.
akṣara caubisa parama punītā. inameṁ baseṁ śāstra śruti gītā.
Her twenty-four syllables are supremely holy, containing within themselves the quintessential wisdom of all scriptures, the Vedas, and the Bhagavad Gita.
śāśvata satoguṇī satarūpā. satya sanātana sudhā anūpā.
She is eternal, filled with pure goodness, the personification of truth, and the matchless divine nectar of eternal reality.
haṁsārūḍha sitāmbara dhārī. svarṇa kāṁti śuci gagana bihārī.
Seated gracefully upon a swan and clothed in immaculate white garments, she shines with a golden luster and moves freely across the pure celestial heavens.
pustaka puṣpa kamaṇḍalu mālā. śubhra varṇa tanu nayana viśālā.
Holding a book, a flower, a sacred water-pot, and a prayer rosary, she possesses a luminous fair form and large, compassionate eyes.
dhyāna dharata pulakita hiya hoī. sukha upajata duḥkha duramati khoī.
In dhyan upon her fills the heart with profound ecstasy, giving rise to supreme peace while dispelling all suffering and evil intellect.
kāmadhenu tuma sura taru chāyā. nirākāra kī adbhuta māyā.
You are like the wish-fulfilling cow Kamadhenu and the soothing shade of the celestial wish-granting tree, serving as the marvelous creative power of the formless Supreme Reality.
tumharī śaraṇa gahai jo koī. tarai sakala saṁkaṭa soṁ soī.
Whosoever takes refuge at your holy feet is delivered safely from every conceivable crisis and danger.
sarasvatī lakṣmī tuma kālī. dipai tumhārī jyoti nirālī.
You are Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Kali yourself, and your wondrous divine flame radiates throughout the cosmos.
tumharī mahimā pāra na pāvaiṁ. jo śārada śata mukha guna gāvaiṁ.
Even if the Devi of learning, Sharada, were to extol your glory through a hundred mouths, she could never fathom its boundless depths.
cāra veda kī mātu punītā. tuma brahmāṇī gaurī sītā.
You are the sacred mother of the four Vedas, and you are identical with Brahmani, Gauri, and Sita.
mahāmaṁtra jitane jaga māhīṁ. koū gāyatrī sama nāhīṁ.
Among all the sacred recites and supreme mantras in existence in this world, none is equal to the holy Gayatri mantra.
sumirata hiya meṁ jñāna prakāsai. ālasa pāpa avidyā nāsai.

tumahiṁ jāni kachu rahai na śeṣā. tumahiṁ pāya kachu rahai na kleśā.
Once a person truly knows you, nothing remains unknown, and once you are attained, not a shred of distress or sorrow can endure.
jānata tumahiṁ tumahiṁ hvai jāī. pārasa parasi kudhātu suhāī.
He who knows you merges into your divine essence, just as an inferior metal is transformed into fine gold upon the touch of the philosopher's stone.

ghara vara sukhaprada lahai kumārī. vidhavā raheṁ satyavrata dhārī.
Unmarried maidens obtain a joyful home and an ideal husband, while widows are endowed with strength to uphold the holy sankalp of truth.
jayati jayati jagadamba bhavānī. tuma sama aura dayālu na dānī.
Victory, all victory to you, O Mother of the universe Bhavani; there is none so tenderly merciful or bountiful a giver as you.
jo sadguru soṁ dīkṣā pāveṁ. so sādhana ko saphala banāveṁ.

jo jo śaraṇa tumhārī āvaiṁ. so so mana vāṁchita phala pāveṁ.
Whosoever comes to take shelter under your wings surely receives the desired fruit of their heart.
bala, buddhi, vidyā, śīla svabhāū. dhana vaibhava yaśa teja uchāū.
Physical strength, mental acumen, knowledge, noble character, wealth, splendour, fame, spiritual glow, and joyful enthusiasm—
sakala baḍheṁ upajeṁ sukha nānā. jo yaha pāṭha karai dhari dhyānā.
All these flourish and diverse kinds of happiness spring forth for anyone who recites this stotra with steady and absorbed dhyan.
Closing doha
yaha cālīsā bhakti yuta, pāṭha kare jo koya. tāpara kr̥pā prasannatā, gāyatrī kī hoya.
Whoever recites this Chalisa filled with devout surrender is blessed with the everlasting grace and benevolent favour of Mother Gayatri.
