saurabheyyaḥ sarvahitāḥ pavitrāḥ puṇyarāśayaḥ.
The cows, Surabhi's daughters, kind to all, pure, full of merit —
pratigr̥hṇantu me grāsaṁ gāvastrailokyamātaraḥ.
may they take my mouthful, the cows, mothers of the three worlds.
dvau śvānau śyāmaśabalau vaivasvatakulodbhavau.
The two dogs of Yama's house, the dark one and the spotted one —
tābhyāmannaṁ prayacchāmi syātāmetāvahiṁsakau.
to them I give this food; may they harm no one.
aindravāruṇavāyavyā yāmyā vai nairr̥tāstathā.
Crows of the east and the west, of the north-west, the south and the south-west —
vāyasāḥ pratigr̥hṇantu bhūmau piṇḍaṁ mayojjhitam.
may the crows take this share I set down on the ground.
devā manuṣyāḥ paśavo vayāṁsi siddhāḥ sayakṣoragadaityasaṅghāḥ.
Devas, people, animals and birds, siddhas, yakshas, nagas and the hosts of daityas,
pretāḥ piśācāstaravaḥ samastā ye cānnamicchanti mayā pradattam.
pretas and pishachas, and all the trees — whoever wants the food I give.
pipīlikāḥ kīṭapataṅgakādyā bubhukṣitāḥ karmanibandhabaddhāḥ.
Ants, insects, moths and the rest, hungry, bound by their own karma —
teṣāṁ hi tr̥ptyarthamidaṁ mayānnaṁ tebhyo visr̥ṣṭaṁ sukhino bhavantu.
for their fill I set this food out for them; may they be content.
