How to do the Krithigai puja at home

Lord Murugan's day in every month, the evening the Moon stands in Krittika: a vrat through the day, red flowers and a ghee diya at His picture, and the offering at dusk. About 60 minutes.

Every step is named here and the first 3 are given whole. The whole puja, every mantra with its meaning, is in the Kalava app.

The six-cornered kolam, the snan of Murugan's small murti and Vel, every offering one by one, the Shanmuga Kavasam and Kandar Kalivenba beside the Kanda Sashti Kavasam, food given, and the next morning's parana for the strict vrat. About an hour in the morning.

The morning puja

7:56 AM · Columbus

From sunrise, after the head bath: Murugan's picture garlanded, the ghee diyas, the offerings and the fruit, then the Kanda Sashti Kavasam, and Murugan's name in the mind through the day.

    Lord Murugan's picture, garlanded

    1. Place Lord Murugan's picture — or a small murti, with a Vel beside it — with care in its place in the puja room.
    2. Offer Murugan a garland: of sevvarali, the red oleander, or of any red flower.
    3. Place a few loose red flowers around the picture as well.

Red is the colour of Murugan's flowers on this day, and sevvarali above all: Murugan is adorned with it, and garlanded with it.
