How to do the Valmiki Jayanti puja at home

- Clean the home mandir or the place of puja.
- Spread a clean cloth on a low stool or the mandir shelf.

- Fold the hands and say His verse.

- Set Maharishi Valmiki's picture or murti on the cloth.
- Set a picture of Shri Ram beside it, if the house has one.
- Keep the roli, akshat, flowers, a garland, a diya and dhoop ready on a plate.
He is pictured as a rishi in saffron, or in red as Punjab pictures him, with a quill and the pages of the Ramayan.
