Why it matters
A journey, a purchase, a first step or a new venture waits for them to pass; daily life, meals, work and the day's puja carry on. Rahu kaal is the one most families watch.
How it's worked out
Kalava divides the day at your town from sunrise to sunset into eight equal parts and takes the weekday's own. Rahu kaal is the second part on Monday (about 7:30 to 9 AM on a six-to-six day), the third on Saturday, the fourth on Friday, the fifth on Wednesday, the sixth on Thursday, the seventh on Tuesday and the eighth on Sunday; Yamaganda and Gulika have their own order. They are shown only when you ask on Timings, never in red, and never notified.
Rahu kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika kaal
Three parts of the daytime, each an eighth of the day, about an hour and a half, that many households leave alone for beginning something new.
