Mrigashira

Soma, the Moon's nectar · a deer's head

Born with Chandra in Mrigashira, the deer's star, you are always searching — alert, quick-witted and fluent, restless until you find the next thing to learn or try. In the Vrishabha half the search turns to land, crafts, music and fine things; in the Mithuna half to tools, machines, electronics, numbers and words, so engineering, surveying, writing, selling and diplomacy come easily. Mangal as star lord gives you energy and a quick flare of temper that can wound more than you mean. Your task is to finish what your curiosity starts, and to let your eloquence heal rather than sting.

The four padas

Pada 1 — Simha navamsha (Surya); names begin with Ve (वे). Dexterous and showy; KP leans to machines and motor vehicles, tailoring, cinema, sound recording and photography.

Pada 2 — Kanya navamsha (Budh); names begin with Vo (वो). Practical and property-minded; KP names estates, land and buildings, dressmaking, exhibitions, fruit and tax work.

Pada 3 — Tula navamsha (Shukra); names begin with Ka (का). The most energetic and alert quarter; KP names tools, electrical goods, telephones and computers, and building contracts.

Pada 4 — Vrishchika navamsha (Mangal); names begin with Ki (की). Quick, eloquent and imaginative; KP names diplomats and astronomers, electronics and electricity, surgery, the press and mathematics.

Health

The face, throat and shoulders: sore throats, tonsils and adenoids, nosebleeds; in the Mithuna half the shoulders, collarbone and arms. Look after the throat in cold weather and see a doctor for anything persistent.
