How to do the Gopashtami puja at home

After the bath: the cow and her calf bathed and adorned, their puja, the go-grasa and the round, before the herd goes out; Shri Krishna's puja beside them, and the katha.

   1. Bathe early and put on clean clothes.
   2. Sweep the place where the cow and her calf will stand, and sprinkle it with water.

   1. Bathe the cow and her calf with clean water, or wipe them clean with a wet cloth.
   2. Let them stand on the swept ground.

   Where there is no cow at home, keep the puja at a gaushala, or before a picture of a cow and her calf set beside Shri Krishna's.

   1. Tie a strip of chunri round the cow's horns, and colour the horns if your house does.
   2. Tie ghungroo or a string of bells at her neck or feet.
   3. Adorn the calf the same way, more lightly.
